Forums

The Jain Network is the forum for the development of the Jain Community, a united Jain Voice and a focus for promoting Jain values. The Jain Community has similar needs to that of a well settled community such as the Jewish or Christian community in this country. The Network will establish the needs of the community members; plan the delivery of its services and create a data base for this purpose. To maximise the effectiveness of its services, their delivery and to assess the impact, outcomes and outputs it has been decided to create a ‘Champion’ for each Target Group.

The Network has also planned to involve and empower the young, women, elderly and persons with special needs in management and delivery of the needed services. It has created Youth Forum, Women’s Forum, Elderly Persons Forum and Special Needs Persons’ Forum. Each forum will be lead by a co-coordinator. The main objectives for each forum are described below:

YOUTH FORUM
Lead: Co-ordinator of youth Forum

The forum carries out following activities, under supervision of the Board of Directors of Jain Network.

• Development of training for youth leadership
• Development of projects related to youth welfare
• Development of projects for community cohesion, interfaith understanding and living together
• Promotion and enhancement of Jain values in youth
• Provide support to the Jain Students in British Universities
• Organize job fairs, cultural events, religious events and youth activities
• Provide volunteers for the activities of the Jain Network and relevant affiliated organizations.

WOMEN'S FORUM
Lead: Co-ordinator Women’s Forum

The forum carries out following activities, under supervision of the Board of Directors of Jain Network.

• Plan and organize training sessions for empowerment of women
• Plan, organize and manage the events and seminars promoting cookery, balanced nutrition and other needed skills for women
• Develop, update and refine the strategy for setting up women’s concerns
• Assist in scheduling women’s events, in coordination with the network or the relevant affiliated organizations
• Develop and manage mothers and toddlers group
• Provide volunteers for the activities of Jain Network committee and activities.
• Represent Jain Network and its relevant affiliated organizations in national and local Women’s conferences / Seminars
• Develop counseling services and services to promote family values

ELDERLY PERSONS' FORUM
Lead: Co-ordinator Elderly Persons’ Forum

The forum carries out following activities, under supervision of the Board of Directors of Jain Network.

• Plan and organize training sessions for management of retired life
• Talks and workshops on Financial affairs in retired life
• Develop, update and refine the strategy for setting up Elderly persons’ concerns
• Advise on available health and social services
• Provide Mentoring and Counseling service
• Motivation for volunteering and advise on available opportunities
• Participation in community organizations and training for  leadership
• Training for participation in interfaith activities, active public life and living together with other communities
• Advise on available help from the national organisations, Government and local authorities

The forum carries out following activities, under supervision of the Board of Directors of Jain Network.

• Advise to the people with physical disability, chronic health problems and their carers for information on available services
• Talks and workshops on Financial affairs for disabled persons
• Develop, update and refine the strategy for setting up help for the special needs persons’ concerns
• Develop Mentoring and Counseling service to them  and their carers
• Advise to the persons with special educational needs
• Advise on available help from the national organisations, Government and local authorities
